Summit success as RICS director reaches the top of Mount Everest

RICS director Nick Talbot has reached the top of Mount Everest on his third attempt, making him the first person with Cystic Fibrosis to conquer the world’s highest mountain.

RICS-director-Nick-Talbot-at-the-top-of-Mt-EverestTalbot’s previous attempt to scale the 8,848m (29,029 ft) peak was thwarted when a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal last April. He suffered cracked ribs and hypothermia.

His first attempt in 2014 was thwarted by an avalanche, which killed 16 Sherpas.

He finally reached the top of Everest on Friday, describing it as an “amazing and exhausting experience”.

Talbot, who works in RICS’s regulation team in London, has been documenting his expedition via his Twitter account @CF_vs_Everest and other social media.

He has raised more than £85,000 so far towards his £100,000 fundraising target for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
