Sun Life Assurance has taken its first step into the leisure investment market, paying THI £22.5m for two part-built schemes in Bristol and Bexleyheath, Kent.
The larger development, 4,088 sq m (44,000 sq ft) Hengrove Park in Bristol, is anchored by a 14-screen multiplex let to Cine UK and a 2,787 sq m (30,000 sq ft) Bass bingo hall. Restaurant operator Fatty Arbuckes has taken a pre-let on a 334 sq m (3,600 sq ft) unit while Whitbread will open a Travel Inn and Brewers Fayre pub next door. Completion is set for Christmas 1997.
In Bexleyheath, the development includes a 2,524 sq m (27,173 sq ft) Cine UK multiplex, and a 3,419 sq m (36,800 sq ft) nightclub let to First Leisure. Three restaurants are also under construction.
Knight Frank advised THI and St Quintin represented Sun Life. Mason Owen is letting agent for both projects.
