More than 400 people turned up at Stanhope’s office development Chiswick Park in west London recently to support the first Yellow Umbrella Day.
The main event involved some 200 people walking or running in a pace’athon that started from Chiswick Park lake and followed 5km and 10km routes along the river Thames through Kew and Barnes.
Yellow Umbrella Day raised around £30,000 for Cancer Research and the Family Holiday Association.
The success of Yellow Umbrella Day persuaded the event’s organisers, Chiswick Park management, to make it an annual initiative within the Chiswick community. Volunteers from local business, volunteer organisations and members of the local community assisted in the organisation.
Entertainment was provided in the Chiswick Park events square, and included an inflatable football pitch, a steel band, sports massages and a barbeque.
