The prime minister has reversed his predecessor’s promise to build the Northern Powerhouse Rail line in full.
Liz Truss pledged to build the long-promised line from Liverpool to Hull, with a major interchange at Bradford, during the Conservative Party conference last month.
But on Wednesday Downing Street said Rishi Sunak’s focus was not on “additional pledges” made by the Truss administration.
