Super casino in Coventry, ‘the obvious choice’

Coventry City Council says the city is the obvious choice for Britain’s first Las Vegas-style casino.

The comment comes two days after the news that Peugeot’s plant in the city would close by next year.

The council said a £113m regeneration scheme at the Ricoh Arena, already included a small casino, which could be made much bigger.

Its comment came as Amicus alleged Peugeot planned to close the Ryton factory for at least two years and misled workers about its future.

Peugeot denied this and said the closure decision resulted from a strategic review conducted in the last three months. Amicus also slammed the government for refusing to fight the shutdown.
