The search for a location for Britain’s first super-casino reached another milestone yesterday when the body advising the government on the venue heard the case for Blackpool in its last public hearing on the competing bidders.
Professor Stephen Crow, head of the casino advisory panel, will recommend to culture secretary Tessa Jowell by the end of the year which of the shortlisted seven regions should win the one permitted licence.
Blackpool yesterday released an opinion poll that showed 38 % of the public supported Blackpool winning the licence. Only 14% supported the next most popular option of the Dome at Greenwich.
