Superdry closes in on Regent Street site

UK fashion brand Superdry is closing in on a flagship store on Regent Street, W1.

Superdry is understood to be in talks to take Austin Reed’s shop at 103 / 113 Regent Street. The lease on the 55,400 sq ft property expires in 2027 and the rent is around £2.5m pa.

The shop will be Superdry’s flagship in the West End. The brand currently has three shops in the capital in Covent Garden, Westfield London and One New Change in the City.

Great Portland’s Great Ropemaker Partnership joint venture with BP Pension Fund owns the long leasehold of the property and the Crown Estate owns the head lease.

After 100 years at its current store on Regent Street, it is thought that men and womenswear retailer Austin Reed is now poised to relocate to Aquascutum’s 26,600 sq ft store at 100 Regent Street.

Aquascutum, which is owned by Harold Tillman, occupies the property on a 35-year lease from 1998 at a rent of £1.7m pa. The retailer has an option to extend the lease in 2033 until 2050.

Jones Lang LaSalle advises Superdry; Cushman & Wakefield advises Aquascutum.

All parties declined to comment.
