Chartered surveyors are less disciplined in their approach to winning new clients than other professions.
According to a report published this week by the PACE Partnership, agents prefer to use personal networks to get referrals. The survey compared responses from 15 chartered surveyor firms with 60 responses from other professional firms, including accountants and lawyers.
It claimed that such an approach to new business would cause surveyors to suffer during an economic downturn.
