Surveyors’ practices could cost business in downturn

Chartered surveyors could suffer in a downturn because of their undisciplined approach to winning new clients, a new report is warning.

According to research published this week by the PACE Partnership, agents prefer to use personal networks to get referrals, rather than taking a structured approach. It claimed that such an approach to new business would cause surveyors to suffer during an economic downturn.

The survey compared responses from 15 chartered surveyor firms with 60 responses from other professional firms, including accountants and lawyers.
