SVA achieves 100% success rate for livestreamed auction

Independent Scottish auctioneer SVA Property Auctions achieved a 100% success rate for its November auction, with all seven lots sold – six of which were sold on the day.

SVA director and auctioneer Shaun Vigers said: “This was our final auction of 2022 – a year in which we sold 44 out of 45 lots and raised almost £2.5m.

“With multiple bidders registered for most of the lots, we were expecting to finish on a high and prepared for bidding to be intense and competitive.”

One of the most fiercely contested lots was a section of former rail bed, adjacent to Oban Airport, which eventually sold for £68,500, more than six times the guide price of £10,000.

A lot on Burnfield Road, Giffnock attracted eight bidders. The property boasted an income-producing workshop, a yard with vacant offices, a basement workshop and parking in a busy area on Glasgow’s Southside. Guided at £130,000, intense bidding saw the hammer come down at £210,000 – significantly in excess of the best expectations.

A redundant Scottish Water waste treatment works site in Glenachulish, south of Ballachulish, attracted keen interest, with 13 registered bidders. Guided at £12,000, it eventually sold £27,000.

SVA’s first auction of 2023 will be held on 22 February at 2pm and will be a livestreamed event.
