Swan Housing Association is to become Urban Catalyst’s new joint venture partner for the £1bn revamp of Purfleet town centre.
Swan will take on L&Q’s role in delivering more than 2,800 new homes, as well as an improved train station and bridge crossing.
The Essex town’s revamp will include a new media and TV complex and is being led by Ken Dytor’s Urban Catalyst.
Swan will take on an equal partnership in Purfleet Centre Regeneration Ltd.
Central to the scheme is a 600,000 sq ft media village, which will include several film stages and production suites.
Quartermaster studios will be the first purpose-built film and TV studio complex of this type in the UK for more than 50 years.
PCRL’s plans received cross-party backing from Thurrock council in summer 2015.
Dytor said: “With over two decades’ experience serving Essex and east London, Swan will bring invaluable local knowledge and expertise that will prove crucial in delivering what is an ambitious regeneration project by any standard.
“By providing new homes and helping overhaul the town centre and rail station, Swan will help propel Purfleet to new heights as we work to create a new international arts and media centre in the town.”
