Swiss Re’s 590ft tower at 30 St Mary Axe, EC3 has been crowned, putting an end to speculation that the structure is flawed.
The 500,000 sq ft (46,450 sq m) Foster & Partners-designed building will be half-occupied by Swiss Re.
Floors 16-34 at the 40-storey building, which are being marketed by DTZ, have yet to find a tenant.
Restaurants and a sky-lobby will occupy the top floors.
Earlier this month Foster & Partners denied rumours that the glass cladding was too heavy for the structure and was causing the tower to sink.
Ken Shuttleworth, partner at Foster & Partners and the designer of the tower, told EGi News:
“There is no truth behind the rumours. When a structure like this is built, the frame will widen slightly.
“But that is perfectly normal, and it certainly doesn’t mean that the tower is sinking.”
