Sydell Group to open new Covent Garden hotel

Sydell Group’s first NoMad hotel outside the US is to land in London’s Covent Garden, the company has revealed.

The New York-based firm behind the Ned in the City of London will convert the grade II-listed Bow Street Magistrates’ Court and Police Station, WC2, into a 91-room hotel, in a joint partnership with investment firm BTC UK

Plans developed in collaboration with New York-based interior design firm Roman and Williams include retaining the building’s original magistrates’ courtroom, which will be turned into a space for private events and gatherings.

A museum with rotating exhibitions honouring the history of the Metropolitan Police Force will be created and the hotel will also feature the NoMad lounge, a night-time venue catering for its guests after dinner, when it opens in summer 2020.

Chef Daniel Humm and restaurateur Will Guidara of three-Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park in New York will curate the food and drink.
