Taco Bell rings in UK expansion

Taco-BellMexican-themed chain Taco Bell is looking to expand in the north of England, aiming to open 25 new branches over the next five years.

Yum Brands, the US group behind KFC and Pizza Hut, is targeting Doncaster, Grimsby, Hull, Leeds, Scunthorpe and York.

Yum first attempted to bring the chain to the UK in the 1980s, opening outlets in London and Birmingham.

These three Taco Bells closed in the mid 1990s. It returned to the UK in 2010 at intu Lakeside and now has nine UK restaurants.

Lambert Smith Hampton has been instructed to find sites for its drive-through, high street and shopping centre outlets.
