Taking a bite out of depression

Ryden blackdog 570p

Ryden is backing a mental health campaign with its charity partner SANE ?by providing the money for a statue of a black dog.

The figure, which is currently on display in Princes Street in Edinburgh, is intended to raise awareness of depression and mental health; the black dog has been used as a symbol of depression since classical times.

Ryden has undertaken an array of fundraising events over the past year to raise the £14,000 cost of the statue, which is the first in Scotland. There are already 11 in cities across England.

The Scottish incarnation was unveiled recently at 102 Westport in Edinburgh, which Ryden is letting.

This photo shows SANE’s director of fundraising and marketing Paul Flitcroft; chief executive Marjorie Wallace; and Ryden partner David Fraser.
