Tallest Southampton building planned

Plans for the tallest building in Southampton, to be developed in Ocean Village, have been submitted.

The three residential buildings, one set to be 28 storeys, are part of a £74m scheme by Allied Developments.

The buildings will comprise 299 homes, and are connected to the ground by an elevated terrace. There is also space for eight restaurants.

The plans, designed by HGP Architects, are part of the regeneration of Ocean Village, known as Admiral’s Quay.

Peter Morton, director at Allied Developments, said: “The tallest residential tower will act as a landmark, and will be the beginning of a new skyline for the city of Southampton.”

Allied Developments, which is owned by Carphone Warehouse chairman Charles Dunstone, is expecting a planning decision from Southampton city council by early 2012.
