Tarmac has held talks with Amec about a possible merger of their construction and engineering businesses.
The merger would result in a powerful construction company with £2.5bn turnover and ease the merger of Tarmac’s heavy building materials business with Aggregate Industries.
Meanwhile, senior management at Tarmac’s construction division are seeking venture capital for a management buyout.
