Tax-free shopping increased by 7% on the year in July, as tourists took advantage of the fall in sterling following the June referendum on European Union membership.
Shoppers from Japan, Indonesia and the US accounted for the biggest rise, the figures from Global Blue show. Spending by Chinese tourists accounted for 32% of total spending, the largest share.
The hotel sector is also benefitting, with the value of reservations increasing and visitors opting to stay in more expensive rooms.
