Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has bought a site in Pimlico with planning permission to build 47 apartments and a new college.
Bouyges Development sold the half-acre Ebury Centre land in Sutherland Street, SW1, to Taylor Wimpey Central London after winning planning consent for the one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.
The development will also house a new college named the Sir Simon Milton Westminster University Technical College, named after Boris Johnson’s late deputy mayor for policy and planning. It is due to open in September 2017, specialising in transport, engineering and construction, and will be sponsored by the University of Westminster and Network Rail.
Building work is due to begin this month, with sales of homes to start in the autumn. Work is due to complete in the second quarter of 2018.
Ingrid Skinner, managing director of Taylor Wimpey
Central London, said: “Pimlico has, historically, presented few new-build opportunities of this scale.
“Securing Ebury Centre is a milestone for our business and is in keeping with our strategy to create high-quality projects in central London that will attract investment and hold value.”
