Taylor Woodrow has made a planning application for a 7.3ha (18 acres) mixed-use scheme in Didcot after 18 months of discussions with South Oxfordshire council.
The plans will provide approximately 27,800 sq m (300,000 sq ft) of shops in a pedestrianised street, offices, civic amenities, leisure and 28 residential apartments.
Sainsbury’s will anchor the scheme with a 5,109 sq m (55,000 sq ft) store and it will include a further 30 shops. The construction of the scheme will also allow for completion of the second phase of the Didcot/Milton Heights Link Road.
Taylor Woodrow hopes to start the construction work on the site in 2001, with completion expected towards the end of 2002.
