TCN have agreed a joint venture with BMT Group to redevelop the Grade II listed Newark Works building in the Enterprise Area of Bath.
The regeneration of the historic building includes the creation of a 40,000 sq ft Creative & Digital Campus, known as Bath Quays Studios. Planning application for the proposed redevelopment is expected in late spring 2016.
The new Creative & Digital Campus will form part of the regeneration of Bath Quays South, in line with the aims and aspirations of the Bath City Riverside Enterprise Area Masterplan endorsed by B&NES council cabinet in November 2014.
BMT’s chief executive Peter French said: “TCN has an excellent track record of delivering creative workspace in Bristol and having TCN complement BMT’s long standing innovative presence in Bath brings us closer to delivering a beautifully novel location for hi-tech, inventive companies that are a core part of this area’s future.”
Richard Pearce, chief executive officer of TCN said: “Bath has a world-class creative and digital scene which has been held back to a certain degree by the lack of suitable space. This is the city’s one opportunity to have a focal point for the sector and we are enormously privileged to be helping deliver it.”
Councillor Patrick Anketell-Jones, from Bath & North East Somerset council, added: “We’re delighted to hear this announcement. This is a very exciting period for Bath following last month’s announcement about the winner of the international design competition for the new Bath Quays Bridge.”
