Ted Baker has reported a 12.2% surge in retail sales year-on-year during the Christmas trading period, while the ongoing investigation into its founder continues.
The fashion brand said online sales, which grew by 18.7% during the five weeks between 2 December and 5 January, represented 25.7% of total retail sales.
This compares with a proportion of 24.3% in the same period in the previous year. Average retail square footage also increased by 5% to 429,576 sq ft.
Gross margins remained “in line” with the brand’s expectations for the full year.
Meanwhile, it said an independent external investigation into founder and chief executive Ray Kelvin’s conduct is progressing.
“The work of the independent external investigation conducted by Herbert Smith Freehills in respect of the recent media reports and petition is progressing and a further update will be made in due course,” said the announcement.
Kelvin took a voluntary leave of absence last month while harassment claims were being investigated.
