Telford Homes gets go-ahead for Ilford mixed-use resi scheme

Telford Homes has received approval from the London Borough of Redbridge for a mixed-use scheme providing 837 new homes and 447 student rooms, in a planning meeting last week.

The five-acre site in Ilford, formerly the Britannica Works factory for Ilford photographic film, will provide 73,000 sq ft of public realm spaces and routes that will open it up to the residential neighbourhoods to the south and town centre to the north.

The scheme (pictured), called Chapel Place, will comprise seven buildings ranging from two storeys in the south to 36 storeys towards the north.

The new homes are a mix of build-to-rent, PBSA and 35% affordable housing.

The HTA-designed scheme has a site-wide energy strategy that avoids combustible forms of energy and stands ready to connect to future district energy initiatives.
