A public consultation on the £200m redevelopment of Telford Shopping Centre has started today.
Sovereign Land, which asset-manages the 1m sq ft shopping centre on behalf of owner Area Property Partners, has unveiled a masterplan to transform the scheme. The public consultation runs until this Saturday 6 July.
Plans include new shops, restaurants and leisure uses – including a new Asda supermarket, civic space and pedestrian routes.
Telford Shopping Centre sits next to the council-led and Citygrove-backed £250m proposal for the Southwater development, which includes a new hotel, 11-screen cinema and eight new restaurants. The first phase of the Southwater project is due to open next year.
Following a public consultation, outline plans will be submitted and subject to consent, work could start early next year focusing first on replacing the current Asda supermarket.
Sovereign Land took over the asset management of the shopping centre from Hark Group at the beginning of this year.
