Tenants pay up at Parsons Son sale

Tenants had a good day out at Parsons Son & Basley’s auction held at the Old Market in Hove.

The occupier of retail premises in Worthing “saw off other bidders”, said auctioneer John Hole, to purchase the property at £186,000 – well above the guide of £150,000 to £160,000.

In Lewes, one of the occupiers of a multilet commercial property bought the entire premises for £435,000 for a pension fund.

“As soon as there was a sniff of being able to buy it, they came along and paid up,” said Hole.

The sale raised £1.6m and produced a 67% success rate.

One prior deal involved land between two retail units in Bognor Regis, that had more “rights of way than the M25”, according to Hole. But a buyer still paid the top-end guide of £10,000.
