Developer Terrace Hill has submitted plans to create a multi-million-pound leisure scheme in Darlington town centre.
On the site of the former bus depot, the Feethams Leisure centre will be anchored by a nine-screen multiplex Vue cinema and will include an 80-bed Premier Inn Hotel.
Nando’s and Prezzo are also confirmed to join the scheme, with the developer in “advanced discussions” with other leisure brands.
A 600-space car park is also included in the plans.
Terrace Hill head of retail and leisure development, Duncan McEwan, said the scheme would provide Darlington with “a first-class leisure offer that will help to attract out-of-town visitors”.
“By establishing a prime leisure destination in the heart of Darlington town centre, we are confident that we can bring positive economic benefits to local people and have a significant effect on Darlington as a whole for many years to come,” McEwan added.
Subject to planning approval, work is anticipated to begin on Feethams Leisure in early 2014 before opening to the public by Summer 2015.
