Talks between Tesco and ABF’s retailing interests in Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic appear to have foundered. The chains are Stewarts and Crazy Prices in Northern Ireland and Quinnsworth in the Republic.
Talks are said to have stalled over price. Tesco has just one Metro store in Northern Ireland. Both Tesco and Sainsbury’s have run into planning problems for new stores in the North.
Fitzwilton and Safeway are still believed to be negotiating a joint venture for Wellworth which has most of its store in Northern Ireland.
