Tesco and Morrisons lose market share

Supermarkets Tesco and Morrisons both lost market share to Asda and Sainsbury’s in the three months to June 22.

Tesco saw its share fall from 30.3 to 28.9%, and Morrisons dropped from 11.7 to 10.9%, according to Kantar Worldpanel figures, which also showed Aldi and Lidl gained customers.

Grocery prices are rising at the slowest rate for eight years, with an increase of 0.8% in the 12 weeks to 22 June, the figures showed.
