The government has enroled outgoing Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy to help draw up plans for economic growth in his home city of Liverpool.
Leahy, who leaves Tesco in March, is a board member of the city’s Local Enterprise Partnership, which will be officially launched in April. He will work alongside Lord Heseltine and other LEP board members on an economic plan for Liverpool.
The announcement comes as the government indicates that it will hold a summit this spring to reveal details of a “capacity fund” for the LEPs.
