Tesco buys supermarket site in Cheltenham

Tesco has applied for outline planning consent to build a 1,858 sq m (20,000 sq ft) supermarket in the centre of Bishops Cleeve, near Cheltenham.

The retailer has acquired the site, behind Mill Parade, from Carter Commercial Developments. Carter bought Mill Parade, which comprises eight let shops units producing an income of £100,000 pa, as well as Cleeve Mill, and Cleeve Hall from Dalgety for a total of £2.45m.

Cleeve Hall, a Grade II* listed building dating from 1250, is to be refurbished to provide 1,081 sq m (11,640 sq ft) of offices for Bovis Homes.

Norton Developments advised Carter. Fuller Peiser and Horsleys advised Dalgety in the disposal of Cleeve Mill and Mill Parade. Fuller Peiser and John Ryde Commercial advised on the sale of Cleeve Hall to Bovis.
