The European Commission Merger Task Force has approved Tesco’s £640m purchase of Associated British Foods’ (ABF) retail business. The supermarket chain is buying ABF’s Quinnsworth and Crazy Prices chains in the Republic of Ireland and Stewarts Supermarkets and Crazy Prices in Northern Ireland. It is also buying Winebarrel and Lifestyle Sports and Leisure.
