Tesco in talks over anchor store at The Rushes

Supermarket giant Tesco is poised to sign up for an anchor store at Realis Estates’ The Rushes Shopping Centre in Loughborough, East Midlands.

Tesco is in detailed talks with Realis to take the 70,000 sq ft former Woolworths unit at the 226,000 shopping centre, which has been vacant since Woolworths went into administration last December.

Duncan Mathieson, managing director of Realis Estates, confirmed the news: “We are pressing ahead with plans to improve the offer at The Rushes and are currently in talks with Tesco, which has expressed an interest in opening a new store at the scheme.

“The arrival of Tesco would be great news for The Rushes and a major boost for Loughborough as a whole.

“Negotiations are ongoing and our priority is now to continue to work with Tesco to take this deal forward.”
