Tesco is thought to be in talks to sell 10 sites from its landbank to European fund manager Meyer Bergman for an estimated £250m.
The fund manager plans to build homes on the sites, which are located in London and the southeast, according to a media report.
The sites already have planning permission for around 4,000 homes.
