Tesco plans small internet-only depots to capitalise on online grocery growth

Tesco plans to drive online sales by opening small internet-only depots that will be the base for internet deliveries in areas where it is unable to get planning permission to extend or add ordinary supermarkets.

It already has one of these in Croydon, Surrey, and plans to add another in Kent next year.

The news is reported in the context of an Institute of Grocery Distribution report that predicts the amount of groceries sold over the internet is expected to double in the next five years.
