The Chelsea cinema Everyman wants

Cineworld CGI SW3 570px

Howard Raymond’s Ilona House Securities is submitting plans to transform a run-down Cineworld on the King’s Road, SW3, into a trendy Everyman Cinema.

The £15m redevelopment will provide a three-screen cinema and café on the first floor, 4,000 sq ft of shops and 12 flats above. Raymond, who has owned the circa 35,000 sq ft Ilona House for more than 20 years, said the intention was to provide a distinct offering to the multiplex at the nearby Westfield London.

Subject to consent, work on site is set to begin in 2014 with completion scheduled for 2016. Nick Shipp Architects designed the scheme; DP9 is advising on planning.
