The Collective doubles down in Wandsworth

The Collective is to develop a 263-bedroom co-living scheme in Battersea, SW11, its second scheme in the borough.

It has worked up plans with Assael Architecture for a hybrid long-stay shared living and short-stay hotel development at Chatfield Road.

The scheme proposes 182 shared living rooms for single occupancy under the sui generis planning use class, with minimum contracts of six months. A further 81 short-stay hotel bedrooms offer stays of up to three months.

It includes 16,300 sq ft of amenity space, with a communal kitchen, gym, library, roof terraces and a garden.

There are plans for 3,500 sq ft of offices, 7,900 sq ft of flexible workspace and community space and 2,000 sq ft for a restaurant, spread across the ground floor and basement levels.

The scheme would be The Collective’s second co-living development in Wandsworth, after receiving planning consent for 292 co-living rooms at its Trewint Street scheme in Earlsfield, SW18, last year.

The Collective has a portfolio of 8,500 bedrooms at various stages of development with a GDV of £2.8bn. In London, it has seven sites, with circa 750 co-living units operational, an immediate pipeline of 1,000 units and a programme to hit 5,000 by 2022.

It is expanding in Germany, Ireland and the US and has a target to reach more than 100,000 units worldwide by 2025.
