Westminster City Council has resolved to grant planning for The Collective’s plans to redevelop the former Taxi House into a mixed-use location.
The project, which is set to complete in 2022, will convert the former headquarters of the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association in Westbourne Park into a scheme with a 286-bedroom hotel, retail, food and beverage, events space and a public piazza.
It will also provide 25,000 sq ft of workspace designed for SMEs, small start-up businesses and craftspeople, with 20% of affordable space for the creative industries and community-led projects.
The scheme is designed by architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris.
The developer also aims to establish a new enterprise, innovation and community fund to support local people and organisations through a grants process over the next 10 years. The fund will exceed £400,000.
The Collective’s partners for its community investment programme in Westminster include Pursuing Independent Paths, Maida Hill Café, Open Age and Al Hasaniya Moroccan Women’s Centre.
The Collective Westbourne Park is a joint venture partnership with Java Westminster.
