The future’s bright in Edinburgh

Edinburgh focus reception
L-R: Buccleuch Property’s David Peck, Estate’s Gazette’s Lisa Pilkington and Will Scarlett, Rettie & Co

The sun was out for our annual Edinburgh reception in March, and there was a sunny mood among the city’s agents and developers to match.

The difference from a year ago is remarkable. Back then, signs of a strengthening economy were tempered with caution around the forthcoming Scottish referendum. With that vote in the past – although the ghost of Alex Salmond’s aspirations is still present – the market is cranking up a gear.

May’s general election may have slowed things a little but there is otherwise a lot of confidence in the market’s performance this year.

While we are talking of performance, this time physical, David Peck, of Buccleuch Property, cut a slim and trim figure. He is in training for the Buccleuch challenge in September – the home team always take training very seriously.

He was not the only top performer: Ryden was named the most active agent in the EGi deals competition and Oliver Barron of Shepherd Commercial picked up individual dealmaker. For more pictures head to the Focus blog.
