The Silvertown Partnership and AECOM are to build a modular construction factory on London’s Royal Victoria Dock, as part of the redevelopment of Silvertown.
The Silvertown Partnership consists of Chelsfield Properties, First Base and Macquarie Capital. They intend to deliver a £3.5bn scheme at the London Royal docks consisting of 3,000 homes and 5m sq ft of commercial space.
It has selected AECOM to deliver a design & build solution to fast-track the construction of the £200m residential element at the 62 acre site. This will include the delivery of a modular construction factory, capable of building around 500 homes a year, from 2018.
Phil Wade, The Silvertown Partnership, said: “We are excited to be partnering with AECOM to deliver 3,000 homes for Londoners, via cutting edge construction methods.
“As the Government stated in its recent housing white paper, innovation is essential to meet housing demand in the UK, and this is a bold step that will help us deliver these much needed new homes in significantly less time. We look forward to working with Newham and the Greater London Authority to advance these plans.”
