Cambridgeshire County Council-backed This Land has appointed David Lewis as strategic land director to lead expansion across England and Wales.
Lewis will pursue strategic land and investment opportunities beyond Cambridgeshire. This Land has identified 11 regions across England and South Wales where he will seek to establish strategic land teams.
The sites are spread across Yorkshire, the North West, the Midlands and the South East.
Expansion will focus on economic hubs such as the London to Manchester HS2 route, the London to Cambridge corridor and the M4 corridor. This Land will look to deliver mixed-use, retail and commercial developments on these sites.
Lewis has worked in strategic land and development for 20 years, covering both residential and commercial development. He was previously the head of strategic land for the eastern region at Commercial Estates Group.
Managing director David Gelling said: “The appointment of David Lewis is a real coup for This Land. We are excited to embark on the ambitious expansion of our business through a strategic programme of land acquisition and investment, so soon after our launch in the market place.”
Lewis said: “With its strong ethos as a challenger brand, This Land presents the ideal opportunity for me to build a team and deliver on the company’s ambition to carve a unique approach to project development, away from the old volume housebuilder mode and towards a much more design-led offering to our customers, rolled out across England and Wales.”
This Land was setup in 2017. It currently owns 23 sites within its portfolio which are set to deliver 1,700 news homes in Cambridgeshire.
