With the rise in property prices, Estates Gazette and Zoopla find out which comedy characters could cash in on their living situations and which sitcom scenarios were purely fictitious.
Ever wondered if Tim and Daisy from Spaced could really have afforded to live in Tufnell Park? Or if Stacey had convinced Gavin to move to Barry what they would have paid? With the help of Zoopla, we have trawled through the numbers to see which sitcoms are fact and which are firmly based in fiction.
It turns out that the only ones to pay no money at all would have been the real winners. The Bristol house where the external scenes for The Young Ones were filmed might now be worth more than £230,000. And their fictitious north London squat would have more than doubled in price in the past 10 years. Just think: if they hadn’t stolen that Routemaster bus and driven off a cliff, maybe they would have graduated from Scumbag College and cashed in on the real estate market.
