Thomas Cook expands to 9,290 sq m at Merlin Business Park, Peterborough

Thomas Cook has taken another 2,787 sq m (30,000 sq ft) at Equitable Life Assurance Society’s Merlin Business Park, Bretton, Peterborough (pictured). A rent of about £22.60 per sq m (£2.10 per sq ft) for Units 13 and 14 has been agreed on a ten year lease with a break at the fifth year. The travel company now occupies almost 9,290 sq m (100,000 sq ft) at the park.

The deal was made possible by Equitable Life’s acquisition of 0.45ha (1.12 acres) of adjoining land for car parking from Orderprice. This made possible the change of use from B8 (warehouse) to B1 (business space) on Units 13 and 14. Equitable Life bought the 25,085 sq m (260,000 sq ft) business park from the former Peterborough Development Corporation in 1992.

Healey & Baker and Carter Jonas advised Equitable Life whilst Thomas Cook was represented by Lambert Smith Hampton. Dickens Watt & Dade acted for Orderprice.
