Tim to Channel fundraising effort

Tim Powell, a partner at the Hull office of Scotts, will ditch the suit and tie for thermals and waterproofs as he attempts to kayak across the English Channel.

Powell has been training rigorously to get accustomed to sitting in a 3m plastic kayak for 25 miles, and hopes it all pays off on when he sets off on 8 June.

He is braving the Channel for the best part of a day to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Powell said: “I think everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer and they have faced greater difficulties than sitting (hopefully) in a kayak for hours on end.”

He expects to face numerous challenges along the way, including shifting tides, battering waves, poor weather and car ferry traffic.
