TJ Hughes is planning to open three of its discount department stores.
The company said a contract had been signed for a new 3,716 sq m (40,000 sq ft) store in Blackburn, Lancashire. This is expected to open in April next year.
It is also opening a store next year in Shrewsbury. Another will be opened in Burnley in autumn 1999. TJ Hughes will have 51,559 sq m (555,000 sq ft) of selling space in 21 stores when all projects are completed.
