French fashion house Christian Lacroix has signed up to join the £100m Mailbox scheme in Birmingham.
The Birmingham shop will be its third in the UK after London’s West End and Glasgow’s Princes Square. It plans to open the 186 sq m (2,000 sq ft) unit next autumn.
A total of 50 designer and specialist shops are planned for the scheme which will line a street linking Birmingham’s canal system to the city centre’s core.
Michael Thorley, chief executive of Birmingham Marketing Partnership, said: “This is a major coup for the city. Birmingham has never been able to attract such exclusive fashion retailers.”
The Mailbox is the conversion of the former Royal Mail sorting office and has already attracted high-profile occupiers such as Malmaison and Crosby Homes – which is building 200 luxury apartments.
