Top names confirmed for MIPIM UK

MIPIM-UK-logo-2015Terra Firma’s Guy Hands and chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Sir Howard Davies, have been added to the MIPIM UK line-up.

They will both deliver keynote speeches on 19 October.

Hands will talk about what Brexit means for UK property and opportunities for private equity, while Davies will focus on the macro-economic picture of the property industry.

Simon Rhodes, managing director of organisers Reed MIDEM UK, said: “They will provide delegates with an insight into their unique take on the future of the property industry.”

Hands is the founder, chairman and chief investment officer at Terra Firma, which has invested more than €16bn (£14bn) in 33 businesses, including UK residential property company Annington Homes. Despite his Euroscepticism, Hands backed the Remain side during the recent EU referendum.

Sir Howard Davies was Bank of England deputy governor from 1995 to 1997, and chairman of the UK Financial Services Authority from 1997 to 2003. He also chaired the UK Airports Commission, which recommended expansion at Heathrow.

Other speakers include: housing minister Gavin Barwell; Fosun managing director and head of Europe Antoine Castro; Jules Pipe, deputy mayor of planning for London; Navid Chamdia, head of real estate for the Qatar Investment Authority; former England footballer Rio Ferdinand, director of Legacy; Paul Stanworth, managing director of Legal & General Capital; Stephen Dance, head of infrastructure at HM Treasury; and Sir Howard Bernstein, outgoing chief executive of Manchester City Council.

MIPIM UK takes place between 19 and 21 October at Olympia, Kensington, W14.
