Developer sues Lidl
Generator Developments is suing Lidl over an alleged failure by the German discounter to honour a “well advanced” but unsigned joint venture agreement for a site in Brentwood, Essex.
The developer, which was the preferred bidder, claims it allowed Lidl to buy the 2.4-acre Wates Way site in 2014 on the understanding it would jv the scheme with the retailer.
Cabbies take action against TfL
London’s taxi drivers have taken Transport for London to court over a new cycle superhighway running through the capital.
At a high court hearing, lawyers for trade organisation the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association said the East-West Cycle Superhighway does not have proper planning permission and should be subject to an environmental impact assessment.
The route runs from Royal Oak in the west to Tower Hill in the east.
UKEI rings changes in Stratford
UK & European Investments has unveiled plans for the £30m redevelopment of Town Square in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire.
The scheme will be renamed Bell Court and will provide more than 70,000 sq ft of retail, restaurant and leisure space.
EY signs for One CityGate
EY has signed for 22,950 sq ft at Britannia Invest’s One CityGate East in Newcastle.
Quoting rents on the building, at the junction of St James’ Boulevard and Gallowgate, are £22 per sq ft.

Field slams Right to Buy
A Conservative MP has slammed his party’s Right to Buy policy, saying it could put social housing in the hands of “yuppies”.
Mark Field, MP for the cities of London and Westminster, warned the policy could soon be extended to buy-to-let landlords.
