MCC wins Lord’s planning test
Marylebone Cricket Club has won consent to demolish and redevelop the Warner stand at Lord’s cricket ground, NW8. Westminster city council has approved Populous-designed proposals for a new 2,922-seat stand, 135-seat restaurant, and new facilities for match officials. The plans are part of a wider £200m masterplan for the venue. DP9 advised on planning.
New E1 job for LandSec man
Land Securities leasing manager Andrew Turf has left the REIT after three years. He has been appointed by Tribeca Holdings and New-York-based Ashkenazy Acquisition Corporation as a director to lead retail at Old Spitalfields Market, E1. Ashkenazy bought the market from Ballymore Properties for circa £105m
last year.
Harry Hill joins easyProperty
Rightmove founder Harry Hill has been appointed a non-executive director of Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou’s new online real estate business, easyProperty. The appointment comes nine months after he left Movehut. Prior to that he was chief executive of Countrywide.
New Canary Wharf tower nod
Canary Wharf Group’s Newfoundland development in Docklands, E14, has been recommended for approval. Plans for the Canary Wharf scheme comprise a 58-storey residential tower and a linked two-storey building. They also include 550 flats and around 15,000 sq ft of shops. Subject to consent, construction is expected to begin in summer 2018.
