CapCo gets a Brazilian…
Brazilian brand Melissa Shoes is to make its UK debut at Capital & Counties’ Covent Garden Estate, WC2. It will take Rugby Ralph Lauren’s 6,500 sq ft store at 43 King Street. Rugby Ralph Lauren took a 15-year lease on the store in autumn 2011 but last November announced that it was closing the luxury lifestyle brand and its 14 stores before the end of 2013. CBRE and CWM advise Capital & Counties; Nash Bond acts for Melissa Shoes.
…as Westfield loses interest
Westfield has sold its 50% share in its Brazilian joint venture back to the Almeida Junior family. The dissolution comes less than two years after Westfield spent around £280m buying a stake in the business, which owns 1.7m sq ft of malls. The jv represented less than 1% of Westfield’s assets and the disposal is unlikely to affect earnings.
