Earls Court scheme challenged
A local residents association this week said it would mount a legal case against Hammersmith & Fulham council over Capital & Counties’ £12bn redevelopment of Earls Court, SW5. West Ken Gibbs Green Community Homes is issuing a Right to Transfer Proposal Notice, seeking to transfer homes at the heart of the project into a new housing association.
Economist HQ for sale
The Economist is to sell its West End editorial headquarters at 25 St James’s Street, SW1, and launch a requirement for new London offices. The move comes as publisher Pearson sold a 50% stake in the group to former owners of Cushman & Wakefield, the Agnelli family, for £469m.
North West agencies merge
North West agencies Legat Owen and Lamont Commercial have agreed a merger to create a combined 37-strong team. The new firm, branded Legat Owen (incorporating Lamont), will operate from Legat
Owen’s Chester and Nantwich offices. Peter Owen and Neil Lamont will both step down, with Peter Johnston heading the new firm.
Savills hires shed specialist
Savills has poached Deloitte Real Estate assistant director Tom Scott to become a director in its industrial investment
team. At Savills he will be responsible for investment and development funding, working with institutional investors, funds, private equity and property companies. At Deloitte and Drivers Jonas he worked with clients including M&G and Deutsche Bank.
